Call for Donations: 3rd Annual King Elementary Jog-A-Thon
The King Elementary PTO is sponsoring its third annual Jog-A-Thon on May 14, 2010. This will be our biggest fundraiser of the year! Proceeds from this event will be used to enhance our children’s learning experience through the purchase of computer equipment and up-to-date technology, beautification, equipment for our PE, Art, and Music programs, as well as educational supplies for our classrooms.
The Jog-A-Thon is an event where all of our students will walk, jog, or run around a designated ¼ mile route behind the school in an effort to complete as many laps as possible. Prior to the event, students will collect pledges from family/friends for each lap they anticipate completing. In exchange for their efforts, students will not only get some great exercise while helping a worthy cause, they will receive prizes based on their performance – thanks to our contributors.
The atmosphere on the day of the event is expected to be electrifying! Energetic music will be played to encourage the students, staff and parent volunteers. The staff and parent volunteers will be keeping track of students’ laps as well as participating with the students.
Organizing this event is a tremendous undertaking, so we are looking to our community businesses for donations to help in providing supplies such as snacks and water, and donating prizes to be given away to students and/or volunteers. Every student, regardless of whether they collect pledges or not, is eligible for a prize based on his/her performance that day.
We sincerely hope you will be able to contribute to this event. The King PTO appreciates your support of our children. We are hoping you will help make this event successful so it can continue to be an annual event for our students!

King PTO and Harris Teeter Together In Education
What is it?
Harris Teeter’s Together In Education (TIE) program is a fund raising program in which the King PTO participates. When you purchase select Harris Teeter Brand products using your VIC card, Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of those purchase dollars toward our school.
What items qualify?
When you purchase Harris Teeter Brand products, H.T. Traders, Harris Teeter Naturals, Harris Teeter Farmers Market, Hunter Farms, Top Care, More Value, Highland Crest, Yourpet, Harris Teeter yourbaby and Harris Teeter Yourtot, a percentage of those purchase dollars goes back to our school. However, random weighted or bulk items in produce, meat (except poultry), seafood, deli-bakery, or prepared foods within these brands are not included in the program.
